Sign.jpg (49680 bytes) Zebra.jpg (50779 bytes)   In 2005 we visited Liberty Hill Animal Land for our first time.  It is a bit over a half hour's drive from Lake George, and well worth the trip.  From the outside, the zoo doesn't look like much, but it has a lot to offer.  This small, family run zoo is in a beautiful setting, and has an impressive assortment of animals.  This awesome little zoo was great fun for my family.  We managed to spend about half the day here.  They allow you to bring your own drinks and food, and offer a nice little picnic area just off the parking lot.  The gift shop is small, but has a nice selection, with reasonable prices.  All the proceeds from the operation of the zoo go towards caring for their animals.  If you have kids that like animals, you can't go wrong taking a trip to Liberty Hill.  As an added bonus, on the way there you can visit lock #11 on the Champlain Barge Canal.  From Lake George head South on Rt. 9.  At the Cat.jpg (52490 bytes)beginning of the factory outlets make a Left onto Rt. 149.  In Fort Anne, turn Left onto Rt. 4, and then make a Right onto Comstock Road (CR. 12).  To visit the canal lock, make your first Right, just before the bridge, and the lock is a short way on the right hand side.  Continue on Comstock Rd. (CR. 12), and then make a Left onto Truthsville Rd.  Follow Truthsville Rd. for one mile, then turn Right onto DeKalb Rd.  The zoo is 3/4 miles on the Left.  Visit their website HERE, or call them at (518) 642-4574
