Santa's Workshop is a small, Christmas themed amusement park, in the high peaks of the Adirondacks, on the base of White Face Mountain.  Santa's Workshop is about an hour and a half drive from the Lake George area, but it's well worth it.  In this wonderful little village, it is Christmas 365 days a year.  Visit with Santa, feed the raindeer, see the blacksmith and get a lucky raindeer shoe.  Buy a christmas hat, or stocking with your name on it, visit the chocolatier for a sweet treat, and maybe you'll get to see them making the candy while you are there.  Visit the glass blowers shop to see beutiful glass ornaments being made by hand.  See the toy makers getting the toys ready for Christmas, or watch Santa's helpers put on a play.  Touch the North Pole, and feel it's icy coolness even in the middle of the summer.  Send a post card or letter with the official North Pole NY postmark on it.  Santa's Workshop is fun for children of ALL ages.  Take a ride on the North Pole Express railroad, ride on the reindeer carusel, or the children's roller coaster.  Do some Christmas shopping, or grab a snack at Mother Hubbards.  Santa's Workshop is well worth the trip.  You can get more information by visiting their website at http://www.northpoleny.com or you can give them a call at (800) 806-0215.  Fax Santa at (518) 946-2293, or write Santa's Workshop, PO Box 1768 North Pole, NY 12997.
While in the area, there are many other fun things to do.  Drive up the Whiteface Mountain Memorial Highway to the peak of Whiteface for an incredible view of Lake Placid, and the Adirondack High Peaks.  You can also visit Lake Placid, the home of the 1932, and 1980 winter olympics.  A short drive away, you can also visit Ausable Chasm and see some of the magnificent structures created by the Ausable River.  Also in the area is High Falls Gorge, where the Ausable River flows over a series of awesome waterfalls on it's way out of the Adirondack High Peaks.
